Claim hexagons and defend your tail
Hexanaut.io turns a hexagonal map into a contest over space. Steer outside your territory to draw a tail, then return to your own land to capture the tiles inside the loop. Expanding raises your level and grants a speed bonus, but an opponent can eliminate you by cutting your exposed tail. You can cut rival tails too, while your own territory provides safety.
The central goal is to control 20% of the map and become King. Keep your share above that threshold for three minutes to win, or eliminate the remaining opponents. Becoming King also reveals your position to rivals, making a large territory something to defend as well as grow.
Totems and four ways to compete
Capturable totems add bonuses such as extra speed, automatic expansion, or information about rival territory. Free For All centers on solo competition with these totems. Duo lets partners share land and bonuses, while PRO Free For All adds airdrops containing manually activated, single-use items. Weekly mode changes the rules each week.
These choices suit players who enjoy balancing expansion with defense, whether competing alone or coordinating with a partner.
Steering and item controls
Use the mouse to aim your direction, or steer with WASD and the arrow keys. In PRO mode, clicking or pressing Space activates an item. Mobile controls use an on-screen joystick and an item button. The official instructions explain the winning conditions, totem effects, and available items.
